For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

Hebrews 4:12-13

Understanding Middle Schoolers

The young teen years (11 - 14) are such a massive time of upheaval and change that it's easy for even those who do ministry with them to miss the mark.  But a deeper understanding of early adolescent development and its implications for ministry will have an impact on every area of your ministry, from planning to teaching to conversations with middle schoolers. That's what this seminar will be all about.

ANDREW MARIN
Practical Leadership: What happens when…
As a leader in your church, what happens when two men or two women come to your church holding hands, showing affection for one another and want to be a part of your faith community? What happens when they come to you and ask if they can get involved to love Christ and love people? What happens when they ask you if they can teach Sunday school, or become a part of a leadership team? And what happens when you’re convinced they’re genuine believers but are torn by their active gay life—not wanting to hurt them or have them feel cast out in any way? This session goes into the difficult questions and answers of church leadership in the 21st century surrounding our faith and the gay and lesbian community.
