For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

Hebrews 4:12-13

Making Muffins and More!

This seminar is designed to introduce anyone to basic music programs found at the Corps.   How do we start a beginner band?  What is a singing company?  What resources are out there for youth music programs?

All these questions, and more, will be answered at the Making Muffins...and more! seminar with Territorial Music and Creative Arts Secretary, Nick Simmons-Smith.

Interactive Staff Training Activities
You expect staff to think on their feet, why not train them on their feet?  This workshop
will cover a wide range of helpful staff training topics, from icebreakers, getting-to-know you activities, to activities that help staff embrace their different work styles and gifts.  This interactive workshop is sure to have a few ‘A-ha’ moments!  We will also have a very unique closing activity that is sure to "connect" your staff together. These are not only team-building activities, but team bonding, too — both of which are important for uniting your staff. Best of all, once you have acquainted your staff with these activities, they can in turn use them with your participants to continue the process of building a truly connected organization.
Help your staff develop skills for how a team communicates, makes decisions, recognizes conflicts and solves problems---all in an atmosphere that is non-threatening and FUN!  Come prepared to participate and play.
     Learning Objectives:
  * To provide the opportunity for participants to play!
* To learn new games and initiatives to use with participants.
* To gain access to resources that will further develop staff members ‘bag of tricks.’
* Provide a forum to demonstrate and experiment with some newly available activities
   in the field.

Heightened Awareness Training: The Challenges Modern Boys Need and Hunger For - Enhancing Your Program's Role in Maturing Boys Into Men

Effectively inspire and engage adolescent boys in ways they are critically deprived of in
our society – and that they desperately need. Left to their own devices, boys tend to get
stuck in an adolescent mindset that leads to senseless conflict, objectification of women, unnecessary risk taking, fixation on superficial things and overall underachievement. With the proper guidance, opportunity and experiences though, they thrive. This session offers  potent ways to play this role in boys’ lives, filling a huge void in our society. This is not another "program-in-a-box". This is an evolved, sophisticated approach that utilizes a unique method of guidance & mentoring, that is critical to helping boys realizing their potential to mature into young men of principled character.

LT. NINA BORUM
Reaching College Students in Your Community

We will focus on ways that corps leaders and officers can begin to be a presence on local university campuses. It will also give ideas and engage in open discussion on how to bring college students into the corps as part of the congregation and as active volunteers.
